PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To ensure effective co-ordination of the Technical Services departments at Shaft level for Rustenburg operations. To ensure that key customers are supported for service delivery (technical information and guidance).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Hons. Degree or equivalent in Mineral Resources e.g. mining, geology etc. is essentia
- Other relevant certificate of competency for Technical Services, Mineral Resources or Mining is essential.
- Professional registration in field of expertise is essential.
- Financial qualification would be advantageous.
- 10 years Technical/Mineral Resource experience in tabular ore bodies, preferably within the platinum mining industry is essential.
- Managerial experience of mine technical services function, e.g., Geology, Survey, Mine Planners, Rock Engineering, Engineering, Safety and Ventilation is desirable.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- To ensure effective functioning and good integration between the various technical departments on the shaft or within a shaft cluster.
- To co-ordinate all short, medium to long term planning as well as optimisation work at shaft level.
- To ensure all operational planning is effective (G-sheets, pre-planning, lost blast analysis etc.).
- To provide technical advice to the Mine Manager and General Manager.
- To monitor operational achievement and provide advice to the Mine Manager and General Manager on deviations and impacts (volumes, quality of mining, cost and revenue).
- To ensure all technical reporting is provided as required on and off the shaft.
- To coordinate the compilation and production of sound annual Shaft Business Plans
- To ensure that the service provided to mining by the technical services team is effective.
- To co-ordinate all ad hoc requests of information at shaft level, and to ensure application of relevant standards and practises within the Mine Technical Services department.
