Introduction
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Internal / Key Accounts Broker to manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 300 existing clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for proactive underwriting, renewals, policy administration, and client engagement. This position requires strong interpersonal, analytical, and administrative skills, with proficiency in both personal and commercial lines insurance. This is a purely office-based/inbound role, with no external client visits.
Duties & Responsibilities
Client Portfolio Management

Manage a client base of ~300 policyholders, ensuring excellent service delivery and satisfaction.

Proactively engage with clients to understand insurance needs and provide tailored solutions.
Premium & Payment Management
Policy Renewals & Retentions

Manage end-to-end policy renewal processes, including reviews and risk assessments.

Present renewal terms and options to clients, ensuring retention and reduced lapse rates.

Develop and implement retention strategies to maintain portfolio value.
Policy Endorsements & Amendments

Accurately process endorsements and amendments (e.g., cover changes, asset updates, client details).

Maintain accurate records in line with underwriting and compliance standards.
Underwriting & Quoting

Perform risk assessments and general underwriting duties.

Provide competitive quotes for new and existing business within the portfolio.

Source and compare quotes across multiple insurers (re-broking) to ensure best cover and value.
Client Engagement

Conduct a minimum of 25 client consultations daily via Zoom or telephonic communication.

Advise on cover options, excess structures, policy wording, and risk exposures.
Additional Functions

Manage policy cancellations, conducting exit interviews and applying retention strategies.

Coordinate vehicle tracking installations where required.

Arrange valuations to ensure adequate sums insured.

Process refunds accurately in compliance with insurer and company standards.

Ensure full compliance with industry regulations and legislative requirement
Desired Experience & Qualification

Matric (Grade 12) – compulsory

RE5 Certification – compulsory

NQF Level 4 qualification in financial services – advantageous

Minimum 2 years’ experience in underwriting (preferably in a brokerage environment)

Experience in both personal and commercial lines underwriting

Excellent administration, communication, and client service skills
Package & Remuneration
R22 000 basic per month plus commission and retentions incentive
