Within this framework, we are looking for an agile and highly-motivated “Software Engineer, R&D in AI and Smart Energy Solutions” to join a team of future shapers.
The successful candidate will work in the field of Smart Energy technologies, supporting the R&D team in developing innovative solutions in the domain, addressing the needs of System Operators, Energy Retailers and other stakeholders. As research engineer, the candidate will work in a small group while being versatile and independent and will tackle innovative research projects funded by the European Commission and national research frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Design and development of AI- and GenAI- driven or other software solutions for digital energy systems, focusing on energy forecasting and planning of demand and generation, planning tools for system operation and optimization.
- Development of AI- and GenAI- driven or other software solutions for end-user applications (real-time analytics, user feedback mechanisms, natural language interfaces) for awareness and energy behavior supervision.
- Collaboration with multi-disciplinary research groups across Europe in the context of collaborative research and innovation projects
- Incorporate Software Engineering best practices and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) mechanisms for the implementation of novel Smart Energy Systems
- Technical reporting and delivery of technical presentations, effectively communicating specification and novel concept
- MSc in Electronic/Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related technical field
- Solid programming experience in Python, Java, Scala or C++
- Knowledge on machine learning and deep learning concepts with modern ML/DL frameworks (Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch or similar)
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Gitlab)
- Experience in software design and Software Engineering practices
- Excellent use of English language
- Excellent communication, teamwork & problem solving skills
- Fulfilled military obligations, where applicable
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of cloud-native technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Helm) and workflow management tools (e.g., Kubeflow, Argo)
- Familiarity with Generative AI concepts and tools (e.g., LLMs, prompt engineering, OpenAI)
- Experience in collaborative research projects, technical proposal/deliverable writing
