We are seeking a Head of Marketing who will lead the development and execution of FairHeat’s marketing strategy, driving brand awareness, client engagement, and market positioning. Role
We are seeking a Head of Marketing and Business Development who will lead the development and execution of FairHeat’s marketing strategy, driving brand awareness, client engagement, and market positioning. This role is pivotal in supporting business growth, enhancing our reputation in the heat network and energy efficiency sectors, and aligning marketing efforts with commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a multi-channel marketing strategy aligned with FairHeat’s business goals.
- Lead brand positioning and messaging across all platforms.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support strategic initiatives and business development.
Team Management
- Build and lead a high-performing marketing team.
- Manage external agencies, freelancers, and suppliers.
- Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Digital & Analytics
- Drive digital marketing performance (SEO, PPC, email, social media).
- Monitor and report on KPIs, ROI, and campaign effectiveness.
- Use data insights to optimise marketing efforts and inform decision-making.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Support internal communications and employee engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with sales, HR, and technical teams to align messaging and support recruitment and retention.
- Represent FairHeat at industry events and forums.
Branding
- Maintain and monitor FairHeat’s brand identity and guidelines, ensuring all resources and assets are consistent and up to date.
- Manage external agencies to produce branding assets.
Public Relations
- Manage award submissions, press engagements, and industry initiative participation to raise FairHeat’s profile.
- Oversee the relationship with the PR agency and ensure timely delivery of plan.
Strategy & Planning
- Work with senior leadership and all departments to execute marketing strategies that support overall business goals.
- Manage annual marketing plans and budgets.
Content Creation
- Oversee the creation of compelling content, including thought leadership, case studies, and digital assets.
- Plan and execute integrated campaigns across digital, print, and events.
- Ensure consistency in tone, visual identity, and messaging.
- Oversee engaging written and visual content for multiple channels, including LinkedIn, website, email, and internal communications.
Event Management
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver both online and in-person events, including webinars, industry conferences, and internal company events.
- Ensure events are documented and leveraged for future marketing purposes.
Business Development Support
- Contribute to business growth by supporting tenders & proposals
- Create materials and campaigns to engage prospective clients and industry partners.
- Drive Growth Initiatives: Partner with the business development team to identify and pursue new opportunities, ensuring marketing strategies align with revenue goals.
- Tender & Proposal Leadership: Lead the creation of compelling, brand-aligned content for bids, tenders, and proposals, ensuring consistency and competitive positioning.
- Social Value Management: Develop, track, and report on Social Value commitments, integrating them into client proposals and marketing narratives to strengthen our market reputation.
- Campaign Development: Design and execute targeted campaigns and thought leadership initiatives to engage prospective clients, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
- Market Intelligence: Conduct competitor and market analysis to inform business development strategies and identify emerging trends and opportunities.
- Client Engagement Materials: Create high-impact presentations, case studies, and collateral that showcase our expertise and deliver measurable business outcomes.
Cross-Departmental Support
- Provide marketing support to HR, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and Administration teams as needed.
- Assist with recruitment campaigns, internal engagement initiatives, and client presentations.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Proven experience in a senior marketing role, ideally within professional services, engineering, or sustainability sectors.
- Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and analytics platforms.
- Strong copywriting, content creation, and storytelling experience.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Competence in managing events.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools.
- Able to communicate clearly, concisely, and with purpose, ensuring messages are action-oriented and easy to understand.
- Skilled at engaging with multiple senior stakeholders and very busy professionals, adapting tone and style to secure timely responses and decisions.
- Capable of presenting complex information in a simple, compelling way to influence outcomes and drive progress.
- Demonstrates agility in communication, prioritising clarity and speed without compromising accuracy.
- Strong ability to produce succinct written content (emails, proposals, reports) and deliver confident verbal updates in meetings or presentations.
Desirable
- Experience in B2B marketing within the energy or built environment sectors.
- Familiarity with Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) structures or purpose-led organisations.
- CIM or equivalent marketing qualification.
- Familiarity with industry awards, tender submissions, and public affairs.
- Experience working with or managing external agencies.
- Experience using and setting up HubSpot
