Introduction
Our client a subsidiary of a leading multinational group in the electrical industry have an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a dynamic, forward-thinking Product Manager for the Tools, Instruments and Identification product portfolio.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant technical degree or Diploma (ideally electrical/electronic)/ Sales & Marketing or equivalent, at least five years experience in a product management/technical sales position ideally gained in the electrical or related industry. A post graduate Diploma in Project or Procurement management advantageous.
The position requires a results-driven team player with strong technical skills, knowledge of the product development life cycle, product sourcing and pricing. Experience of the electrical market in Africa, customer segmentation and channels to market is essential. In addition the ability to adapt to a fast changing environment, with a systematic and logical approach to problem solving , good organisational, communication and analytical skills and the ability to travel locally and internationally are required.
Duties & Responsibilities
The key focus will be to manage the development of the Tools, Instruments & Identification Product portfolio.
Responsibilities include:
Management reporting on status of action plans, roadmap and promotions
Planning and executing product lifecycles
Building key relationships with electrical associations and testing laboratories
Analysing market conditions and gaining a deep understanding of customer product requirements.
Actively manage relationships with existing suppliers, and pro-actively identify new suppliers for new products or re-sourcing of existing products.
Provide product technical support and product training to customers, suppliers and sales teams.
Supervising product administration process
Desired Experience & Qualification
Relevant technical degree or diploma preferably in Electrical/Electronics/Sales and Marketing
Post graduate qualification in Project /Procurement Management advantageous
At least 5 years related experience and proven success in product management or technical sales
Knowledge of the electrical market in Africa.
Ability to travel locally and internationally to meet suppliers and attend product exhibitions
