We are looking for a Field Team Technician to join our team and take on a vital role in one of the core functions of ikeja’s business. Key Responsibilities
Installs
- Prepare equipment and poles for job execution.
- Mount brackets, drill, crimp and cable as needed.
- Interface professionally with customers.
- Erect and align Subscriber Modules to Network Access Points/Sectors.
- Perform quality alignment reporting (photos, screenshots, speed test results, ratings, etc.).
- Educate clients on connectivity and payment portal (payment.ikeja.co.za).
- Support your team by standing in for Team Leader/Foreman when requested.
- Close all install tickets accurately and on time via Webapps.
- Uphold ikeja values in all customer interactions.
Maintenance
- Execute general maintenance across Locos in Cape Town (remote support knowledge beneficial).
- Complete tasks such as: Relocations, Pole re-mounting, Equipment reprogramming/replacement, Troubleshooting & upgrades and Uninstalls & alignments.
- Ensure "Pass" and proper closure of all maintenance tickets.
- Follow all standard procedures and safety protocols.
Customer Engagement & Support
- Provide clear instructions and guidance to clients.
- Address customer queries professionally and positively.
- Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues.
Driving
NB: A valid South African driver's license held for a minimum of one year is a strict requirement for this role.
- Track fuel usage and maintain company vehicle if assigned.
- Assist with inspections, servicing or vehicle pick-ups.
- Act as designated driver when operationally required.
- Matric or Grade 12 (advantageous).
- Previous experience in telecommunications, field operations, or a similar technical support role would be favorable (e.g. DSTV installations, Wi-Fi installations).
- Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
- Comfortable working at heights and with tools/equipment.
- Strong task completion and time management abilities.
- Valid driver’s license (held for a minimum of 1 year).
