Purpose of the Role
At KingMakers, our People Partners are trusted advisors who connect business strategy with people impact. We’re a hyper-growth tech company redefining the sports entertainment industry across Africa, and this role is central to ensuring that our teams thrive as we scale.
This role combines local responsibility for Spain, this position blends local responsibility with global partnership for key functions like Product, Legal, and other departments. You’ll balance strategic advising with hands-on execution, driving People excellence across onboarding, performance, engagement, compliance, and culture
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Act as first point of contact for employees in Spain and global functions.
- Ensure decisions are fair, compliant, and aligned with Spanish labour law and company standards.
- Manage employee relations cases with discretion and consistency.
- Keep policies and documentation current across all jurisdictions in your scope.
People Operations
- Own the full employee lifecycle for Spain: onboarding, payroll, benefits, probation, and offboarding.
- Partner with Finance to ensure accuracy and compliance in payroll.
- Drive performance management cycles (reviews, PDPs, PIPs).
- Leverage AI and HR systems to streamline processes and reporting.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders in Tech, Marketing, and Finance across Spain, London, South Africa, and Nigeria.
- Partner with managers to provide day-to-day people advisory, helping them handle employee queries, performance issues, and team dynamics.
- Influence with credibility and ensure alignment between local People practices and global business needs.
Culture, Engagement & Development
- Act as a culture champion, embedding our CROWNS values across Spain and your assigned functions.
- Drive engagement initiatives and team-building activities that support collaboration and employee well-being.
- Partner with managers to identify engagement opportunities and implement practical solutions.
- Support change management and organisational development projects to improve employee experience and retention.
Collaboration & Projects
- Work closely with People Partners in other hubs to ensure consistency, share best practices, and deliver global initiatives locally.
- Contribute to projects that improve HR systems, processes, and employee experience.
- Use intermediate to advanced AI tools to optimise People operations, reporting, and employee query management.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Psychology, or related field; CIPD/SHRM preferred.
- 4+ years’ HR experience, with at least 2 in a People Partner / HR Generalist role.
- Strong knowledge of Spanish employment law,and European HR practices.
- Proven experience managing the core People processes: payroll cycles, onboarding, probation, performance management (PDPs, PIPs), grievances, and disciplinary cases.
- Comfortable advising managers on employee relations matters and guiding them through structured processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management across multiple geographies.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (such as Product, Legal, Finance, Finance, Tech and Marketing) and building trusted partnerships.
- Track record of working in remote and multicultural teams, balancing local compliance with global consistency.

- Experience running engagement initiatives and team-building activities.
- Exposure to multi-country HR environments outside Spain.
- Familiarity with HR systems and intermediate to advanced knowledge of AI tools to improve reporting, processes, and employee experience.
