The role
As Key Account Manager you are the commercial face of Ascendis Pharma for our customers, responsible for establishing and maintaining contact and delivering value to HCPs, regional payers, pharmacists, and other relevant stakeholders. In this role, you will be responsible for inclusion in regional and hospital formularies and for closing commercial agreements relating to the product(s) in Madrid and surrounding area.
In this role you have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, collaborative environment to achieve extraordinary results. You will be part of building Ascendis Pharma in Spain from the ground up on a small and agile team. You will report directly to Raúl Casares, National KAAM Lead Spain, who is based in Madrid.
Your key responsibilities will be
- Build strong relationships with HCPs, HCOs, and key stakeholders across the treatment pathway (e.g., nurses, pharmacists, payers, policy makers).
- Communicate the value of Ascendis Pharma, TransCon technology, and products to defined target groups.
- Drive regional and hospital market access efforts, including securing approvals and formulary inclusion
- Develop and execute strategic account plans based on regional and local insights.
- Lead initiatives to improve patient care, including organizing events and roundtables.
- Collaborate effectively with MSLs and cross-functional teams (Market Access, Medical, Marketing, etc.).
- Monitor performance, report insights, and contribute to strategy development.
- Ensure all activities comply with Spanish promotional regulations and company values.
Qualifications and skills
- University degree in scientific or business/commercial field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical sector in sales, marketing, and/or market access roles, preferably with significant experience in rare disease and/or endocrinology and/or oncology
- Direct regional market access experience and existing contacts considered a major advantage
- Excellent knowledge of key regional and hospital groups, decision-makers, and stakeholders, their networks and decision-making processes, and current relevant policies; existing relationships with endocrinologists a plus
Key competencies
You have outstanding communication, sales, and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to effectively present scientific data to healthcare professionals and regional or hospital stakeholders.
You are skilled at prioritizing tasks and working efficiently, with a strong ability to analyze, develop, and execute account plans. Your solid business acumen, combined with experience in managing relationships in specialized or rare disease environments, allows you to adapt quickly to new directions and challenges. With a cross-functional mindset and collaborative attitude, you are a true team player who shares best practices and actively supports colleagues. Driven by an unbridled curiosity, you continuously seek opportunities to grow and learn in your role.
At least 80% in-field time, including overnight stays due to the large territory. High willingness to travel by car, train, or plane is required.
