Job Description
- Ensure efficient operation of hotel properties, equipment, and maintenance services whilst protecting the Owner's assets.
- Oversee structural aspects, grounds maintenance, and external facilities of the hotels.
- Monitor budgets and control expenses across all areas of the department.
- Coordinate purchasing for Engineering departments in line with hotel procedures.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance procedures, including the annual Preventative Maintenance programme.
- Oversee all technical installations, including building services, kitchen equipment, and hotel systems.
- Ensure compliance with Minor Hotels policies on Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
- Provide solutions for emergency situations and significant technical issues.
- Lead and support the Chief Engineers & team members in achieving financial, operational, and service delivery targets through effective policy development and training.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering roles within the hospitality industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management position
- Proven track record as a Director of Engineering or similar role in a multi-property or large-scale hotel environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
- Strong understanding of energy management and sustainability practices in the hospitality sector
- Proficiency in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and property management software
- Excellent project management skills with experience in renovation and capital improvement projects
- In-depth knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and health and safety standards
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget preparation and cost control
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop engineering staff across multiple properties
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, team members, staff, and stakeholders at all levels
- Proven problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations
- Professional certifications such as Certified Hotel Engineer (CHE) or equivalent are highly desirable
- Fluency in English; additional languages are advantageous
