Job Description
The Team Head of HR Operations Europe leads a multinational HR Operations team overseeing HR administration, payroll, and compliance across 19 European countries. The role ensures legal and procedural accuracy, drives digital transformation through the HRIS Personio, and supports management in implementing organizational changes and global HR initiatives. The purpose of the role is to ensure efficient, compliant, and scalable HR operations across Europe, enabling business growth and organizational stability. By harmonizing HR processes, optimizing digital workflows, and ensuring legal compliance in all countries, the position contributes directly to operational excellence and supports the company’s mission of building a sustainable and high-performing international organization.
- Lead and develop the European HR Operations team, ensuring efficient and compliant HR administration, payroll, and employee lifecycle management across 19 countries
- Oversee and coordinate all Global Mobility activities, including international assignments, relocations, and cross-border tax and social security compliance
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in collaboration with external providers and internal stakeholders
- Maintain and optimize HRIS processes (Personio) and drive digital transformation initiatives
- Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, HR Controlling, Talent Acquisition, and People Engagement to ensure a seamless employee experience
- Act as a key interface with Accounting, Compliance, Legal, and Tax departments to ensure consistency, risk mitigation, and audit readiness
- Support organizational restructuring, policy development, and implementation of global HR initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, law, or a related field
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources Operations, HR administration, or payroll management within an international or multi-country environment; experience in the renewable energy, engineering, or other project-based industries is advantegous
- Proven experience in leading teams and managing cross-border HR processes (e.g. employment law compliance, payroll coordination, mobility, HRIS management)
- Solid understanding of European employment law, social security, and cross-border payroll compliance
- Experience with document automation, digital personnel files, and HR process optimization
- A strong service orientation, hands-on mentality, and a solution-oriented approach combined with excellent communication skills
- Strong proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g. Personio, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors) and payroll interfaces across multiple countries paired with excellent command of Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, data validation, pivot tables, and reporting)
- Fluency in English and German is essential; additional language skills are a strong advantage
