Introduction
Our client, a Security and Surveillance business, currently seeks to appoint an Electrical Supervisor (Electrician) to join their team based in Witbank, Mpumalanga. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of electrician responsible for solar installation, batteries, inverters and maintaining single-phase electrical systems across multiple sites. The role includes calculating electrical loads, sizing backup systems, determining cable specs, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Leading a team of electricians responsible for solar installations and maintenance
- Install and maintain single-phase electrical wiring systems in residential and commercial buildings.
- Set-up and configure inverters and backup power systems.
- Calculate the electrical load of the systems in use and specify the appropriate backup system requirements, which will include inverter sizing, battery capacity, and solar needs.
- Install back-up and solar systems according to industry standards and safety regulations.
- Plan and install new power connections and electrical lines to various points on-site.
- Calculate voltage drops and determine appropriate cable sizes for installations.
- Conduct routine inspections and troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes.
- Maintain accurate records of installations and repairs.
- Collaborate with the Senior Project Manager and other team members to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Trade-tested as Electrician.
- Wireman License
- Proven electrical supervisor/ team lead experience managing solar installations, inverters and back-up power solutions, particularly single-phase systems.
- Ability to calculate voltage drops and select appropriate cable sizes.
- Medically-fit for site work and travel.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working on multiple sites and managing time effectively (Advantageous)
