We are currently looking for a Project Manager who will be responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and supervision of EU-funded Research & Innovation projects (Horizon 2020 / Horizon Europe), with a strong emphasis on software design and development.
The role focuses on managing and overseeing ICT-related project implementation, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and funding requirements. Working closely with internal stakeholders (project managers, domain experts, designers, developers) as well as external partners from leading academic and industry organizations across Europe, the Project Manager will drive the successful delivery of innovative software solutions. These solutions will contribute to advancing environmental sustainability and addressing global challenges through cutting-edge digital technologies.
Responsibilities
- Manage and implement software-focused Horizon Europe projects, with emphasis on IT solutions that advance environmental sustainability.
- Work on specific tasks within Work Packages (WPs), contributing to research and technical implementation; suggest and design new software solutions while ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs such as project deliverables, software designs, technical reports, and system specifications.
- Collaborate with internal teams (scientists, software developers, UX/UI designers) and external partners (academic and industry) to align on project requirements and objectives.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment, ensuring solutions meet scientific, technical, and environmental challenges.
- Lead, prepare and contribute to technical documentation and project deliverables, including reports, software architecture descriptions, and progress updates.
- Support proposals preparation for new Horizon Europe calls, focusing on IT-related technical content.
- Ensure compliance with internal Management System procedures (ISO 9001 & 14001).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in European funding programs (Horizon 2020 / Horizon Europe) with a focus on IT-related tasks and project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) with hands-on experience in coordinating software development or digital transformation projects.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to make effective and timely decisions.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt messages to diverse stakeholders (technical and non-technical).
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing and motivating multidisciplinary and international teams.
- Self-driven and highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Nice to have:
- MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Background in environmental sustainability projects and a genuine interest in applying IT solutions to global environmental and societal challenges.
