Introduction

A reputable company in the fuels and oils sector is seeking to appoint a detail-oriented and experienced Junior Accounts Clerk to join their dynamic finance team, based in Durban. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about finance and accounting, with a strong focus on reconciliations, invoicing, and debtor management.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Junior Accounts Clerk will be responsible for managing client accounts, ensuring accuracy in reconciliations, invoicing, and resolving client queries. The successful candidate will play an integral part in supporting the finance department by maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with internal processes, and contributing to the smooth flow between operations and finance.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Manage client accounts with emphasis on reconciliations, invoicing, and debtors.
Handle collections and resolve client queries in a timely manner.
Conduct daily bulk invoicing and verify pricing and rates.
Prepare and reconcile month-end ad hoc invoices.
Facilitate inter-company transport invoices and process internal documents.
Monitor and review client accounts and perform age analysis on a daily basis.
Manage the integration of finance and operations systems related to bulk fuels.
Maintain accuracy of the bulk order system, ensuring a full audit trail.
Perform filing and document management including weekly and ad hoc invoices.
Provide support with cashbook and operational finance queries.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Matric with a clear criminal record (essential).
Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance or SAQA/QCTO accredited equivalent (advantageous).
Proficiency in SAGE Accounting Software (essential).
Computer literacy with strong MS Office skills.
Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts Clerk.
Practical experience of 6+ years within finance and administration.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving ability, meticulous attention to detail, and high accuracy levels.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
